An Occupational Physiotherapy Ergonomic Assessment is appropriate where an in-depth assessment of the individual’s workplace and functional capabilities is required with regards to specific and/or general job demands.
This assessment is an analysis of the employee’s observed and reported functional ability in relation to work tasks and work environment. The assessment is undertaken where there are functional, ergonomic, psychosocial and workplace issues (such factors can be in isolation or combined) which adversely impacts an employee’s physical and/or emotional well-being, their work performance or a return to work.
Ergonomic assessments, also referred to as workstation assessments, ensure that a worker's workstation is ergonomically designed to minimise the risk of injury and maximise productivity.
Assessments are also conducted:
- To support the return to work of an injured worker by ensuring that their workstation is designed to minimise any discomfort as they recover from their injury and prevent any aggravation of the injury
- For workers who work from home, to ensure their home work environment is safe and ergonomically designed.
