Isokinetic Assessment

An Isokinetic assessment is a very specific assessment of an affected part of the body specialising in muscular function and overall performance. These assessments are normally joint specific e.g. a problem in the ankle or muscular area specific e.g. repetitive strain in the forearm. They are popular for assessing performance in specific tasks e.g. the ability to lift, as they test maximal and repeated performance. Isokinetic assessments are often used where there is a discrepancy between the patient’s ability level and the employer’s expectations.

Isokinetic assessments are an objective measure which means they produce facts and figures that can be relied upon. This is often referred to as validity in testing. They can be used in legal proceedings.
